What forms of payment do you except?

We accept cash, checks, and major credit/debit cards (3% card fee applies). Payment is due at completion. A temporary $0.01 pre-authorization may appear on card statements.

What items we cannot transport?

Propane, firearms, munitions, liquids, alcohol, gas, chemicals, paints, or cleaning supplies.

Do you move lamps?

Table lamps must be boxed. Floor lamp shades must be removed and packed separately.

Do you move plants?

Getting a Quote

How do I get a moving estimate?

If I cancel my move, do I get my deposit back?

Two weeks’ notice = full refund. Reschedules also require two weeks and depend on availability.

How is my moving cost calculated?

Local moves are typically priced based on the number of movers, the truck size required, and the total time the job takes. Long distance moves are generally priced based on the weight or volume of your shipment and the distance to your destination. We explain our pricing clearly during your estimate so there are no surprises.

Are there any hidden fees I should know about?

No. Blue Men Moving Columbus does not charge hidden fees. Your estimate will include all costs associated with your move, and we communicate any potential adjustments to you in advance before proceeding. We believe transparent pricing is fundamental to an honest moving relationship.

We have more items than what’s on the Quote – what should we do?

Crews move what’s listed on the quote. Contact the office if items are added so we can adjust resources.

Preparing for Your Move

What can I do to make the move go faster and smoother?

Be organized: disassemble beds, label boxes, unhook appliances, prep mirrors.

How far in advance should I book my move?

We recommend booking at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance for most moves. For summer moves between May and September, booking 6 to 8 weeks ahead gives you the best selection of available dates. For moves with very specific timing requirements tied to a closing date or lease end, earlier is always better.

What should I do to prepare before the movers arrive?

We recommend decluttering and donating any items you no longer need, setting aside anything you plan to transport personally such as medications, important documents, and irreplaceable valuables, confirming parking availability for our truck at both addresses, and notifying your building management if you are in an apartment or community with specific move-in or move-out requirements. We will walk you through a complete preparation checklist when you book your move.

When do we pay for the move?

Payment is due the same day at completion.

Do I need to disassemble my furniture before the movers arrive?

You do not need to disassemble furniture in advance unless you prefer to. Our crews are experienced in disassembling and reassembling standard furniture pieces as part of the moving process. If you have items that require specialty disassembly, let us know during the booking process and we will make sure our crew is prepared.

Do you unhook and hook up washers, dryers, and other appliances?

We move appliances but do not disconnect or reconnect water/gas lines.

Do we need to empty dresser drawers?

Yes – drawers must be empty for safe transport (drawers may stay inside furniture).

What happens if the weather is bad the day of my move?

On Moving Day

Do I need to be present during my move?

We strongly recommend being present at both your pickup and delivery locations so you can answer any questions and confirm where items should be placed. If you are unable to be present for the full move, please designate a trusted person to represent you and make decisions on your behalf.

Do the movers put boxes in specific rooms?

Yes – please label boxes by room. Boxes must be taped; totes need lids.

How do I know my belongings are protected during the move?

All of your items are professionally wrapped, padded, and secured before they leave your home. We use proven loading techniques to prevent shifting and damage during transit, and Blue Men Moving Columbus is fully licensed and insured to provide additional protection throughout your relocation.

What time will Blue Men Moving arrive the day of the move?

Typically between 8:30–9:00 AM, or you’ll receive an arrival call.

What items cannot be transported by Blue Men Moving Columbus?

For safety and liability reasons, we are unable to transport hazardous materials, flammable liquids, propane tanks, perishable food items, plants, or live animals. If you have questions about a specific item, contact us before your move date and we will help you find the right solution.

Do I need to tip the movers?

Tipping is never required but is always appreciated as a recognition of great service. If our crew does an exceptional job on your moving day, a tip is a wonderful way to show your appreciation directly to the team that worked hard for you.

Do the movers accept tips?

Do you cover the floors/carpets?

Do you offer packing services?

Yes. Blue Men Moving Columbus offers both full-service packing for your entire home and partial packing for specific rooms or fragile items. Our professional packers use high-quality materials and label every box clearly so your new home is easy to organize from day one.

Do you offer storage solutions?

Yes. We offer both short-term and long-term climate-controlled storage for customers who need a secure place to hold their belongings during a move transition. We handle the transport in and out of storage so you never need to coordinate a separate crew.

Do you disassemble and reassemble beds?

Standard beds only. No IKEA beds or specialty beds without prior approval.

Do you disassemble cribs?

We do NOT disassemble or reassemble cribs.

Do you move refrigerators and freezers:?

Must be empty, unplugged, and thawed. Water lines must be disconnected by customer.

Do you disassemble weight/gym equipment and treadmills?

No – customers must disassemble gym equipment and treadmills. Peloton screens must be removed.

Do you dismount and mount TVs?

TVs should be dismounted ahead of time. Curved TVs require original boxes or waiver. Max TV liability is $500.

Do you handle out-of-state moves?

Do you move businesses and offices as well as homes?

Yes. Blue Men Moving Columbus provides commercial moving services for offices, medical practices, retail operations, and other business types throughout Ohio. We offer flexible scheduling including evenings and weekends to minimize disruption to your operations.

Do you move Ikea beds?

Yes, but we do not disassemble or reassemble them. IKEA furniture may weaken after reassembly.

Do you move Grandfather Clocks?

Weights and pendulum must be removed. Professional setup is recommended afterward.

Do you move pets and animals?

Do you move pictures?
